2019 Stones No1
The Perrarus Block 1 – Saint Helena Vineyard can be best described as a gravel bed of crushed rock, shaped like a football field. Pure drainage and extreme minerality and graphite profiles. Stones No. 1 also benefits from a special, and even more dense addition of a rare Clone 6 selection from our Perrarus Block 2 Pritchard Hill Vineyard.98 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck: More iron, red fruits, tobacco, and obvious minerality emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a site on Pritchard Hill. Aged 22 months in new barrels, it’s full-bodied, rich, and powerful, with serious tannins as well as concentration. It needs to be forgotten for 7-8 years if possible. This is serious, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. drink 2029-2049
2019 Stones No2- One of the most coveted growing areas in all of Napa Valley, the Perrarus Block 2 on Pritchard Hill exhibit the extreme rocky minerality that has become a signature of the Stones wines. This multi-Clone selection exhibits dense, black fruit, crushed rock, and perfect acidities.
99 PTS- Jeb Dunnuck: A wine that flirts with perfection is the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2, which is all Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill. It has a more Mountain vibe in its structure and minerality and gives up lots of red and black fruits, iron, tobacco, and savory, almost bloody aromas and flavors. A monster on the palate, it’s full-bodied, deep, and incredibly concentrated, yet has incredible purity. It needs bottle age, but it’s brilliant juice. drink 2027-2047
2019 Stones No 3 Perrarus Block 3 from the Oakville Tench Vineyard may be the most significant and extreme vineyard of the Stones portfolio of vineyards. Sharing the fence line of Screaming Eagle, the vineyard soil resembles an ancient cobblestone street of red rock and minerals like no other vineyard in the Napa Valley. Also a Clone 4 selection, this site exhibits gravelly texture with some loamy soil undertones.
97 PTS ~ Jeb Dunnuck: The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 3 comes from Tench Vineyard and is an inky hued, red, black, and bluefruited Cabernet with serious amounts of iron, marine-like salinity, and savory herb aromas and flavors. As with all these Fairchild releases, it’s full-bodied, has wonderful balance, and building structure. It’s a serious, powerful 2019 that will benefit from at least 4-5 years of bottle age. drink 2027-2047
